Yoga is making its way to the forefront as a therapeutic modality with very beneficial results for special needs children and adults.
Allison Morgan, an Occupational Therapist and Children’s Yoga Teacher with Zensational Kids, promotes that Yoga Movement:
- Helps decrease stress
- Increases awareness of body, awareness of self
- Improves gross motor and fine motor skills: specific postures strengthening core (proximal) and extremities (distal)
- Improves coordination, bilateral integration and reflex integration
- Improves balance
- Facilitates motor planning
All the above are issues that many special needs children and adults find challenging. Triumph Yoga emphasizes specific yoga movement, meditation and breathwork that will improve and strengthen these issues and enhance the student’s developmental process.
